A day (off) in the life of an MTSer

Well it was a sort of day off as I have a big Saturday coming up.
- 9:15 am Cuddle Christine for extra long in the morning
- 10:30am Eat breakfast then head to lunch with one of my good mates.
- 12:45pm Invite him to hear Peter Jensen Speak on Saturday night.
- 2:20pm Hang out with Dave (My bro) for a late lunch and coffee @ Island Espresso.
- 2:30pm Bump into Jerome and show him a good bike shop
- 2:45pm Bump into Kath and Matt chat some more.
- 3:00pm Have a look at the remains of Myer
(That was the Liverpool Street entrance to Myer)
(Ground Zero)- 3:10pm Buy Wheel Magazine (my monthly indulgence of car porn)
- 5:00pm Come home and eat tea
- 5:40pm Ride out to Netball
- 7:00pm Win Netball
- 7:30pm Help Chris with his broken down car
- 9:30pm Head home for a shower and bed
- 10:15pm Discover more wedding photos
- 10:55pm Blog and upload pictures that have been on my phone for a while.

Married, Busy, Stuff
Where have I been? I know what you're thinking... "Now he's married he's going all dismal"... Well let the cynical reader know I have not become "all dismal". I still stay up late and people still come round to visit.
Being married to Christine is strange. It's kinda like being married to ya best friend (except there are benefits*). Again the transition into married life has been a pretty smooth one which is reason to give thanks to God.
So where have I been? Why the lack of blogging? I'm not sure to be honest. It hasn't been like a conscious break nor has it been for lack of inspiration. I guess I have been pretty busy that's been nice.
We've been looking for a house. I've looked at a few so far but none have really cut it. They either seem to be too expensive or in the wrong place or just a bit too yucky. Now that might sound picky but I am in the first year of marriage and I figure I can be a little picky.
Speaking of picky I've also been starring Christine's entire i-tunes library while trying to persuade her that Michael Bubble (sic) is the anti Christ.
To my horror I did a budget for the first time and realized this MTS thing is going to see us slide backward into savings. This is ok as we have savings but it's not ideal. I guess it's been a time of counting the cost.
Oh one thing before I go you must absolutely get facebook if you haven't already you are a crazy person.
*I'm talking about her cooking you sickos

Thankyou to all the wonderful people who emailed messaged us for our wedding. Your thoughts and prayers were much appreciated. Thanks also for the generous cash donations for our honeymoon. We were really blessed.
Christine and I look forward to returning to Australia tomorrow. We've had a great restful and enjoyable time. In the mean time here are some pics for your enjoyment. More to follow soon.

To bring people up to speed. The wedding will take place at 5:00pm on Friday in the Garden of Hanover International Bible Church. This translates to 1:00 am Saturday morning Aussie time. And we'll be back in Aussie land on the 8th of July. This will probably be the last you'll see from us for a bit.
Thanks again to all the people all around the world who have prayed for us emailed us over the last few months. For the advice and help you have offered. Thanks heaps to all people at HIBC for all the work they have put in organising the wedding and making it run smoothly. Thanks to Christine for being the best most beautiful girl in the world and for saying yes to marrying me.
Lastly thanks to my God and saviour Jesus for all that he done for the both of us. May our marriage be for his glory.

I, Michael take you, Christine to be my wife. I promise by God's grace as He enables me to love you as Christ loved the Church, and to daily make sacrifices for you. I will put your needs before mine, and will consider you in all my decisions. I promise to care for you as I care for my own body. I will be considerate as I live with you, and give you honour as the weaker partner and an heir together with me of the gracious gift of life.
I will speak the truth to you in Love. I will encourage you and strengthen you in your walk with God. I will not let the sun go down on my anger, instead I will be gracious to you, tender hearted, forgiving you even as God has forgiven me. I will trust in the Lord with all my heart and not depend on my own understanding, I will acknowledge Him in everything, knowing that He will direct our paths. Mixed bag

Christine and I went to the VW factory on Monday. Visiting the factory is probably more like visiting a theme park on the gold coast. There are rides and a number of attractions. touring through the factory watching the cars being put together. The best bit was probably getting to drive the VW Touareg Diesel V6 on the 4WD obstacle course.
As I wind down the last few days of singledom I thought I'd give you some more serious reflections on my time so far. Things are starting to get the business end of the wedding stuff, managing logistics and the like. I miss all my freinds back home more than I thought realized I would. It was great to have Dave arrive yesterday. Being a different country has also been more difficult than I anticipated and I've found the language barrier the most difficult part. It's made me realise how much I enjoy just chatting to people and saying g'day.
Having said that Germany is a very beautiful place and Christine and her parents have been wonderful hosts. I can especially recommend the bread here. I'll probably try and pop a couple more posts out before the big day.

Bucks night and an apology

I need to firstly apologise to all my bloke friends who I didn't manage to invite to my bucks night last night. It was a hastily organised affair and I didn't have time to really get invitations organised. In any case I reckon there were about 25 or more people. 16 whole Domino's Pizza were consumed, along with most of a carton of beer.
I have to give credit to Ian H for this little beer stunt... look carefully below...
A nice mix of German and American just like my lovely girl. There were some girly cakes that I had to eat as well...
It was quite a tame event. Although I was forced to endure the world's worst movie Attack Force with Steven Seagal. How bad you ask? Well it rates 2.6 stars on IMBD that's bad. User quote "how to waste 12 million dollars". We watched it in fun and cheering and jeering while trying to predict each (very bad) plot move.

supportMIKE news III
Dear Brothers and Sisters
This newsletter finds me at the end of the first Uni semester. I finished the semester with five sermons in the space of a week. This included preaching at FOCUS in Hobart and in Launceston. I also had the pleasure of speaking out at Richmond Congregational Church. This left me feeling tired but with a great feeling of satisfaction. I can happily look back at a job and semester where I have achieved much.
Since my last newsletter I have, with help from one of our members, started a small weekly Bible study up at one of the residential colleges. Running a group like this has been tried before (better men than I have failed), but this time we’ve managed to get a consistent bunch of eight people each week. Benny Walter at the college has also been greatly supportive of the venture. This work alone has been a great source of personal encouragement and something to thank God for.
I also have been leading a small weekly prayer meeting down at the Conservatorium. This has around five to ten people each week. The smaller groups make contact with FOCUS more accessible and provide an opportunity to pray weekly for the other students. We’ve grown to know and love each other over the semester and are working toward an evangelistic style mission in second semester (see below).
As many of you may know I’m off for most of this month to Sydney and then Germany to get married to the lovely Christine. We’ll be married at her parents' church in Hanover on June the 29th. For those who don’t know we met about a year ago through my blog. You can check most of the story out on my blog (see address below).
We’ll be back to live in Tassie on the 8th July before heading off to FOCUS’ Mid Year Conference (MYC). MYC is the peak of the FOCUS calendar and we’ll be looking at the sometimes controversial topic of the Sovereignty of God. Please keep Christine and myself in your prayers. It has been a long and strange journey.
We’d also appreciate prayers for MYC as this will be a challenging and spiritually stretching time for many of the students. Due to my “newly married” status I’ll be taking more of a back-seat role. It will also mark the beginning of my ministry in conjunction with Christine. This will take some adjusting to - please pray that God can work effectively through us as a married couple.
Second semester should however begin with a “Bang” with the return of the “Worldview Survey”. This was a particularly effective evangelistic mission run a few years ago. I’ve been busy promoting, motivating and organising the mission. I hope to have all the organisational stuff finished before I leave. Please pray that I’ll have a restful and refreshing break in Germany.

Why Germany?

Pull up a chair and I'll explain why I'm getting married in Germany...
Reason 1 - Hanover International Bible Church was pumped* to host a wedding. If some brothers and sisters want to host my wedding good on em.
Reason 2 Organisation - Christine and I are both very busy. I have work I can do and want to do coming out my left nostril and big toe. The last thing I want to do is organise another wedding (yes I have done this before see reason 3). Christine is busy with her study and moving/selling stuff. On the other hand the Hanover duders were pumped* to organise and cater for a wedding (see reason 1).
Reason 3 Stress - I have been through the wedding organisational process it before and it was a "organisational freaking nightmare". I was keen not to have to revisit said "freaking nightmare". When the peeps at Hanover Bible church offered... You guys are grouse... mate where do I sign.
Reason 4 - Neutral ground - meaning it favors neither my friends or Christine's friends.
Reason 5 - Christine's pares live there. They are cool. End of story.
Reason 6 - I have dreamed of having a wedding where anyone who wanted to could come for ages. Usually you have a "A list of friends" and a "B list of friends" (I went through this the last time)... what rubbish everyone is my A list friend and invited to my wedding and reception. If you can't make the trip fine... but realise you are an "A list friend".
Reason 7 Cost - Now you might be thinking it's soooo freaking expensive to fly there and back... well it's probably costing us the same or less than most of my mates who got married... and I get to go to honeymoon in Germany and Singapore.
Reason 8 - Christine wanted to do it and I agreed it was a wicked** idea.
*"Pumped" here means "enthusiastic"
