supportMIKE CD Give away

I have a CD in my library that I hate. I can't stand it any longer... I was given it to review for the University Magazine Togatus a couple of years ago. I wrote a scathing review which hasn't seen me back to write CD reviews since.

Anyway if you can guess the name of this well known Alternative Australian Rock band THE CD IS YOURS FREE. In fact I so want to get rid of it I'll give it to the person with the closest guess. The CD and case are in perfect condition (I only listened to it once). The competition is open to anyone so get commenting.

Clues... It was their last album (2004). The band hails from Brisbane and has been around since 1996.

Powderfinger's Vulture Street?

Looks like they've got another album on the way

Or is it Regurgitator's Mish Mash?

Grinspoon's last album?

Also Mike, may I mention how much I like your "Shameless Self Promotion" posts. However, I liked them even more when they were called "Shamless Self Promotion". It made me smile every time, as I thought of how you were self-promoting without any shams. :)

I think it's Regurgitator - I remember reading your review in Tog.

I wouldn't take the CD even if you paid me though... awful band.

Speaking of the Gurge, I recently got hold of some songs from their 1997 album. Black Bugs (which is about playing video games) and Polyester Girl are great. And I remember their track in 2001, which I think was called Fat Kop. I liked that they experimented with their sound and never tried to do the same thing...

...however I have no desire to listen to the cd. I like Regurgitator for nostalgia purposes only.

And speaking of Tog, I read the latest edition last night. It wasn't very good. I don't know what the editor was doing, but they obviously weren't doing any "editing". Everything ran far too long and was mostly boring. It felt like reading a collection of press releases. It actually made me wish for the days when Kevin Bonham was editing. He may have been a grumpy old student with bad hair, but he understood apostrophes.

Onya Swil it was Gurge's Mish Mash album. I'll try and be down to farewell Gus. I'll give it to you then.

Man that album really sucks... I'll post the review if I can find it.

Oh and Gus Tog has slipped... they don't have as much dosh these days.

I did like "! Song formerly known as". That was one of the few Gurge songs I enjoyed.

I can't even tell you if it's on the album cause I can't read the flipping track list...

Regurgitator had some great singles. The ones Gus mentioned, plus a few off Tu-Plang a few years earlier. But I wouldn't want to listen through a whole album.

If it's Regurgitator, I'm gonna be disappointed in you.
