Are Christians Capitalists or Socialists?

It's a good question and we'll be looking at it this Sunday.

Mikey is cooking up a ripper sermon as you read this. I don't really plug my church often enough on here but you should totally come and check it out especially if you haven't been before. Details see our website.

For my international readers I'll post a link when it's up.

I think you meant to write "for our overseas readers"

Dueteronomy 24.19-20

When you are harvesting in your field and you overlook a sheaf, do not go back to get it. Leave it for the alien, the fatherless and the widow, so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. 20 When you beat the olives from your trees, do not go over the branches a second time. Leave what remains for the alien, the fatherless and the widow.

Taxing businesses and the rich in order to redistribute wealth to the poor and needy is what is being described here.

This is not a suggestion by God to his people, it is an order. It is legislation.

Of course a passage like this does not prove that the bible supports socialist economics. What it does prove, though, is that it doesn't condemn it.

I'll post a link to the sermon and some sermon notes I took as soon as the sermon becomes available.
