Stupid waste of money

Ok so I was being provocative in the title. I read this in today's Mockery;

The rate of road deaths has barely budged over the past decade despite millions of taxpayer dollars being spent on safe driving campaigns a national snapshot shows. In 1997 nine out of every 100,000 people died in car accidents. Over the past nine years that rate has hovered between seven and nine people.

To put this in perspective in Germany where the roads are better quality, the cars faster and drivers better trained, speed limits higher the number of road deaths per 100,000 people is around six and half. Yet we are perpetually told that speed kills.

If I was the ruler I would:

1. do as Germany does and make the Midlands Hwy a duel carriage way freeway. Upgrade the New England Hwy also.

2. Have McDonnalds and KFC at Oatlands, Campbel Town, Perth etc. But instead of Coke you get Redbull.

3. The transport department will inspect cars at Brighton and give you your individual speed limit, according to how well you have hotted it up.

4. Teenagers should not be allowed to drive VL Commodores. They are death on wheels.

Also, a passenger train should replace the Redline coach.

And a advance driving course at Baskerville for all...

a very good idea I like the idea of driving faster while killing less people

Jonny, classic.

I think training is the key difference, don't you, Moik? The statistics here must be miserable, given that many of our drivers start learning at 15.5 and get a full license at 16.
