Hobart ablaze

Now while I didn't take the following pictures, I was down watching as Myers in Hobart went up in flames this afternoon. I imagine the pictures will be pretty good in the Mockery tomorrow.

One of my mates took this one from his house...

Insurance fraud, possibly. Saturday, near the end of the day. There's also Centro/Westfield planned for the Argyle St carpark block. So if the owner of Myer is also the new shopping complex developer... well this adds weight to the conspiracy.

Maybe now we will get a Myer with escalators. It will be interesting to see what replaces it. I'm betting on it being something a fair bit taller than the original, its a prime piece of real estate. I think the firies did a pretty decent job keeping it contained to the one building, looks pretty mad!

Well Myer is running at a loss and have been negotiating to sell off the whole coles/myer thing for a few years now. After the "megamart crash" meant they lost a lot of money...

I feel bad for all my pals in cosmetics, menswear and ladieswear - especially the cosmetics ladies - some of them were particularly sweet.

oh cool, something to photograph when im there next week!! this all sounds like a similar fire here in melbourne not long ago. a recently close down nightclub and entertainment complex in st kilda was burnt down a week after its doors shut

Isn't cosmetics where it started?

We should hold a special church service for those that knew someone in cosmetics.

But I am looking forward to the escalators and glass evelators. I am thinking maybe a high glass roof, with a blimp that drops prizes on the hour.
